A few months before I got married, I started the search for shoes. Once I'd picked out my dress, I knew what I needed. The dress was tea length and the shoes would really show so they needed to be good. And it had a red band around the middle and I wanted to match it. But I'm not a big fan of dyed shoes, so I had to find just the perfect red. Plus, the shoes needed to have a little heel but not too much since I'd have to stand in them for hours. And they had to be comfortable. And they had to be my style. I'm known for my love of shoes so if my shoes weren't perfect, it would be commented upon. And so the search began. Thank goodness for Zappos and Amazon and their return policies. Every other day, it seemed, a new pair of shoes would arrive for me to try.

The Tsubos were a bit of a stretch. I was pretty sure they wouldn't work but I'd been dying to try these shoes so I gave it a shot. They arrived and I loved them. There's a platform in the sole so the high heel doesn't seem quite so high to my feet. The style is modern and funky but still sleek and sexy. The toe's a little odd, pointy/boxy. And my favorite feature is the back strap that almost looks like it's connected to the base of the shoe but isn't. I don't know why exactly, but I really dig that. And they were comfortable. I don't know about hours on my feet comfortable, but surprisingly good for the height. But the color was all wrong for the dress. Far too orange. And so they had to go back. Or...so they should have. I ordered them from Amazon, which has a more limited time for returns than Zappos. I kind of, sort of, well, forgot to send them back. And by the time I remembered, it was too late. Poor, poor, pitiful (Tsubo-wearing) me.

This is my latest purchase. In fact, it's the only purchase I've made of shoes for months considering I'm unemployed. But these I couldn't resist. I've always had the problem that I have large calves. I have nice dainty ankles, but big calves. So finding boots that fit my calves and don't bag around my ankles, that aren't the stretchy kind, has been nearly impossible. Then I found these. I swear I've been searching for essentially these exact boots for years. The top fits my calf and they fit snugly all the way down to my ankle. They have some lovely details with the strap around the top and the seaming that looks kind of Victorian. And the heel is perfect. I'm not good with anything above 2 1/2 inches and that's exactly what these are. And the heel is beautiful, with its womanly curve. I have them in black and if I could afford it, I'd get them in every color under the sun (though I think they only come in black and brown). Oh, and did I mention that Indigo shoes/boots are really comfortable? They are. I'm not sure what to do with myself now that I don't have to spend all my spare time looking for the perfect boots. Maybe now I'll start the search for the perfect casual weekend shoe. I always need a challenge.

Hello shoe fans! I'm sorry there's not shoe today, but I have to save them up for this weekend. Yes, it's that time again. The Blogathon is upon us. This weekend I'm going to stay up for 24 hours, posting to the musings page on my site every 30 minutes. And I'm doing it all for The Global Fund For Women, a fantastic charity that works to improve the lot of women all over the world. If you wonder why I'm blogging to benefit them, look at my post from March about women being raped in Congo and you'll see that there are bad things happening to women all over the world that needs to stop. And The Global Fund is actually making a difference.

As I do every year, half of my posts, on the 1/2 hour, will be a Shoe of the Hour. Yes, that's 12 shoes in 24 hours, which will hopefully help make up for my slacking off with Shoe of the Day lately. Sorry shoe fans, I know I've been bad.

My addition this year will be in my posts on the hour. I recently wrote 2 books about online dating and I have way too much knowledge in my head to keep it in. So I will be giving out free tips about online dating, things included in my books as well as things that have come up since as I've continued my online dating odyssey. And there may even be a few anecdotes from my crazy online dating life.

So I will try to be entertaining, shoe loving, online dating anecdoting, and make a lot of money for a good cause in 24 hours, starting at 6 a.m. this Saturday morning the 6th. Please pledge to my excellent charity by clicking on the "Stay up Late" button on the musings page, or going to http://www.blogathon.org, and following their directions for sponsoring me. And send me questions about online dating and/or my online dating experiences and I will answer them all. And feel free to send me shoes, if I like them, I'll feature them! Thanks to everyone for your support!

The color is vibrant and fantastic, a fuschia to rival those at the botanical gardens. And the macrame straps give them a strangely hippie vibe, despite the fact that there's nothing Woodstock-y about them. I'd wear these with a white linen fitted dress, walking through the botanical gardens, making the flowers jealous.

I love the black t-strap and the way it spider webs across the rest of the shoe. But ultimately it's the wedge that makes these. Not only is it a fantastically shaped heel, feminine and unusual, but it's covered in those glorious roses. I would wear these with black capris and a kelly green top.

Great bright glossy red. The white stitching is a great contrast. Wonderful height to the heel, very walkable, and not clunky. The super-thin sole keeps them sleek and the square toe makes them a little extra funky. I'd wear them with a white skirt and black top with a buckle at the neck. Would the New Yorkers approve?
