Shoes of February 2003

Ok, so they're not the usual glamorous shoes I normally hgihlight, but aren't they cool? I love the chocolate brown (one of my favorite colors these days). The corduroy gives them a warm autumn feeling and the stitching gives a casual jeans look. And the wood wedge keeps them from feeling too orthopedic shoe-ish. They're chunky and funky and I'd wear them with jeans and a flowered top.

Kenneth Cole

You can't get more classy than Kenneth Cole. And these are just simply lovely. A perfect little 50's feeling heel and a sleek simple t-strap. I'd wear these with a black dress with a sweetheart neckline and some pink rhinestones.

Bisou Bisou

Nice classic sexy open-toed slingback. Lovely but common. What makes them special is the heel. The Pentagon-shaped heel creates an interesting look glanced from the side or when one kicks up one's heels. I'd wear these with a square-necked dress out for drinks, as long as I could sit on a bar stool to display them properly.

Lauren by Ralph Lauren

Life Stride

What kind of Valentine's Day do you want to have? I think the shoes you wear choose your attitude. Wear the Laurens with a classy black dress and rubies, hair up, for a fancy dinner and night at a cocktail bar. Wear the Chili's with a slinky red dress that could almost be lingerie for a night of seduction which might not even get you out of the apartment. Wear the Life Strides with just about anything so you'll be ready for anything--they're classy enough for dinner and sexy enough for whatever comes after.

Charles David

In the midst of all this rain and cold, I feel compelled to show a beautiful spring shoe. Just looking at these makes me picture green lawns covered in flowers, picnics on rolling hills, and floaty floral dresses. The style is simple, a strappy sandal with a nice high heel. The color is what makes these special and allows my thoughts to wander to warmer days. I'd wear these wtih khaki capris and a bright pink t-shirt at an afternoon lawn party.

BCBG Max Azria

These couldn't be more different than the brown Max Azrias I showed you yesterday. The color is all they have in common. The deep chocolate brown is just as fabulous in this leather but much warmer. Unlike most wedge heels, these manage to be feminine and not chunky-looking with a nice curve in them. The straps over the toes are nice (and I apologize profusely for my one red toenail--I'm a little lazy with the polish remover). But the best part is the ankle strap. It took some fiddling before I figured out how it was meant to go, but once I did--fabulous! I like the faux button on the end especially (the strap really attaches with velcro). I'd wear these with jean capris with a brown asymetrical sweater and mother-of-pearl jewelry.

BCBG Max Azria

I have plenty more Spanish shoes, but I went to Nordstrom Rack this weekend so I have some exciting new shoes to show you. These are simply stunning. The pointed toe and pointed heel are classic and 50's looking. The little strap across the top gives just a suggestion of a mary jane. But the best feature of these shoes is color: the gorgeous deep chocolate brown with a satin sheen and the flash of red from the inner sole. I'd wear these with an unexpectedly fabulous little brown cocktail dress with a flash of red rhinestones on my ears.
