I went with my dad to the California Mille car show prior to the race, as I do every year. They hold it at the Fairmont hotel, a relic of SF opulence on the top of Nob Hill. It's a strange scene, lots of beautiful vintage cars in immaculate condition, a combination of regular people, like me and Dad in our jeans and t-shirts with digital cameras, and the people who are really part of the scene--women in elaborate summer dresses or suits, big hats, high heels, walking around with champagne and men in various eras of costume, top hats, red and white striped suits, all sorts of dress. I really kind of love it. And for some reason it's always gorgeous for the show--sunny and warm. No difference this year.
These were on a woman who fell somewhere in the middle--young, pretty, long dark hair, tight white pants. The moment I saw them I subtly sprinted toward her to try to get some guerilla pics. I wish the front view had come out a little clearer, but it's harder to hide the camera when she's coming right at you. Anyway, you can still tell they've got a fantastic iridescent pink flower on top of lucite. Impressive, seriously high heels. And you have to love this woman's baby pink toenails. However, as you can see from the side pic, these result in a very unattractive and uncomfortable toe problem--they fall off the front and seem to even touch the pavement. For that problem, I probably wouldn't wear these. However, if I did, I'd choose a baby pink dress with a flowy skirt and a halter top, flower in my hair.
