I had another excursion to Nordstrom Rack and they had some great stuff. These are fantastic--and fantastically high--shoes. They're a creative variation on the classic slingback. The sling is still there, but you pass a couple of great straps on the way, creating a cut-out effect. And below the sling is one hell of a high heel. It was not as hard to stand in as I expected, but suffice to say that these shoes didn't make it home with me. They're hot, though. I'd wear them with a below-the-knee swing dress, to avoid the risk of looking trampy--at least in public. Posted by Alyssa at August 11, 2003 06:47 PM
These are a great looking shoe. Paired with a pair of STW PH or seamed stockings, and a tight cut ladies suit, would be a knockout!

What has happened to your self-confidence? In the shoes which you posted in the "Blogathon" you had some great and seriously sexy curvy heeled platform shoes from 3 or 4 years back; - these are simply their current equivalent! Your shoe wardrobe could do with a little updating if you are going to continue to produce the same effect.
I know that you don't like the very sharp long points that are still the fashion in Europe and the UK; perhaps you find them too aggressive? But these beauties have a nicely balanced mix of smoothly rounded (though probably still quite hard!) toe to play 'footsie' under the restaurant table, and a seriously sharp and lethal stiletto type heel to give you the "don't mess with me" edge of today's woman.
There really is nothing more sensual than to be in conversation with a woman at the dinner table when from 'out of the blue' the unmistakable feel of cool, soft, smooth but firm leather is felt against the naked skin of one's calf as her shoe toe slides purposefully up and under the hem of your trousers (pants)!
Nothing is more guaranteed to bring on that "knee weakening" "WOW" factor, as the conversation stops and your 'soul' falls into her knowing eyes!
Alyssa.....go back and buy the shoes!

Sorry, I forgot to mention...
In no way could these shoes be normally considered "trampy", ultra sexy - yes, but they are "classy" and expensive looking.
In the UK there is an old adage that, the mark of a true "Lady" is that she can dress in the clothes of a prostitute and still look like a "Lady".
In the UK "City" district of London (equivalent to Wall Street), shoes such as these are worn to work by ruthlessly successful so called "Power Bitches" (the full term, dating from the eighties, is "Spike Heeled Power Bitch"!).
It's the inadequate men they trample over who coined this phrase; as far as men like myself are concerned they are worthy of our respect for being able to use their sexuality to manipulate and turn the tables on men and play 'hardball' in a "Man's World".
