I made it! I hit my Blogathon goal of $500! $510 to be exact. And the Blogathon over all made $102,148.71. So fantastic. thanks to everyone who participated and sponsored. We really made a difference.

I'll be back up to blogging again soon, but in the meantime, check out the past musings for shoes and babbling during the event this past weekend.

I'm participating in the 24 Hour Blogathon for charity. The first 24 hours are over, but you can still sponsor me over the next 48 hours. I'm supporting the Global Fund For Women, a noble cause that supports women's human rights organizations around the world. Please sponsor me by clicking on the box to your left or on this link.

Fantastic news! The Blogathon 2003 has made it over the $100,000 mark. Truly amazing. Over twice as much as we made last year! Everyone's been so generous and the other bloggers have been serious hardcore about getting sponsors. As for me, I'm at $485! Another $15 and I'll hit $500. I never imagined I could hit $500. Could someone please pledge me $15? It would be really exciting... You can still sponsor me until 6 a.m. Pacific time Tuesday. It's for the Women!

Speaking of my fabulous sponsors, I have to give thanks to Ann and John Paul, two new sponsors. You guys are awesome and helping me reach this new goal of mine.

Well, I got about 5 hours of sleep yesterday--sleeping until about 11:30. Went to bed at 11--couldn't believe I lasted that long, but at the end wasn't all that sleepy. Got up for work at 7. Then sometime around 3 it hit me--jet lag. That's what my dad compared it to and he's pretty right on. I'm guessing I pass out on the couch around 9 tonight, but we'll see.

Well, we've reached the end. There were some difficult moments, but as in the past, it was generally a good time. I want to thank everyone for reading. I want to thank everyone who linked to me. But most of all I want to thank my wonderful Sponsors! You guys sponsored me for an even $350 this year! That's great! You guys are the best. Here's a list of them all:

Jennie
Kevin
My grandfather
My parents
Angie
Peter
Nancy
Lillie
Dione
Susan
Mary Beth
Mike
hauntedsky
And Tracy for her painting donation
And of course all of you who can still sponsor me within the next 48 Hours while you're still able to!

Thanks also to Christina for coming all the way up here to hang out with me. Thanks to Kelly for IMing with me. Thanks to Dad for staying up way later than any parent's duty extends.

It's been swell, but it's time to sleep. And none too soon. In past years I've had a strange high going in the final stretch, but this year I'm ready. The bed is calling. There's a little bit of light in the sky now. If I'm lucky, full light will wait until I'm snoozing. See my traditional bleary eyed photo below. I even tried to look awake. That was the best I could manage. Thanks for everything guys and good-"night"!

Addendum--Sunday afternoon--my sister just sponsored me and brought my total up to $450! Woo-Hoo! Rock on sister!

Welcome to the Blogathon, Shoe of the Hour! Remember, you can still sponsor me for another 48 hours, money going to Global Fund For Women, a noble cause that supports women's human rights organizations around the world.

These are my final Shoes of the Hour. I've posted these before, but I've got some new readers and I'm running out of cute shoes, so they're back. I love these shoes. These are my Barbie shoes. Perfect shade of dusky pink. Great ankle strap and perfect solid but sexy heel. And very cute decorative cut-outs on top. I wear them any time I'm feeling Barbie-ish with something flirty and light colored.

Story on my local news station site KRON about the "Hunting for Bambis" business. I'd heard about this on the radio, how some guy was selling hunting trips in Vegas to guys who could shoot naked women romping through a forest with paint ball guns. I thought it was sick. Turns out it was false--the guy was trying to promote his videotapes. Now the promoter is being sued.

Dad said there was a series of earthquakes in Japan. He's gone to bed now, finally. I can't believe he stayed up until 4:30 to keep me company.

Time to post again. Come back for the 5:30 and final shoe!

Nice red heels. They're not exciting, but a good dark red. Nice ankle strap. Square toe. Wide medium heel. They look good on. I wear them any time the occasion calls for red.

More movies! I saw The Hulk and didn't hate it as much as everyone else. In fact, I kind of liked it. It was slower and more thoughtful than your average comic book movie, but I thought it had a lot of depth. And I thought the effects were pretty good, though not perfect. But then I didn't think Spider-Man's effects were perfect, either, and everyone raved about those.

I saw Legally Blond 2. I saw and liked the first one, so I expected to like this one. It was horrible. Horrendous. Don't waste your money. My friend Angie and I were both embarrassed every time we laughed, though we did laugh, it was against our wishes.

I saw Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle with friends opening night. Very fun film. I liked the first one better I think because the plot wasn't as thin as the second. But the second one doesn't stop long enough for you to even think about the plot. Very entertaining.

Time to post again. Come back for the 4:30 shoe. Just 2 more shoes!

These aren't my usual taste. But something about them really appealed to me. I like colors in the floral--the reds and pinks. And I like the arrangement of straps. They're essentially flat--no real heel at all. But I think they're pretty cute--especially with the red nails. I wear them with anything summery--capris or skirts.

I'm surprised at how many people have nothing to say at this hour. Well, not surprised, but interested. I've been trolling the webring seeing what's out there. A lot of people like me, though at least I have shoes to post. Hmm, surely there's something to talk about. What were Mom's suggestions 12 hours ago?

Summer movies, she suggested. She knows I see a lot of movies. I think the last one I saw was The Swimming Pool. Very interesting movie about a British mystery writer who goes to her publisher's house in France because she's feeling creatively bereft. After she's there for a little bit, his wild French illegitimate daughter arrives and moves into the house, too. It's very interesting. I still find myself pondering it and saying "hm".

Before that I saw The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen which was an entertaining movie that could have been better, but was good for a summer action pic. Actually had some substance and literary references. Assumes the audience has at least read a few things in their lives.

Before that I saw Pirates of the Caribbean. A great time. Johnny is fabulous and Orlando Bloom gets pretty Errol Flynn-y by the end. A good pirate romp. We haven't had one of those for awhile.

Maybe I'll keep talking about movies in the next post after the shoe. Seems to be perking me up a bit. Hee. Time to post again. Come back for the 3:30 shoe.

I adore these. I got them for a wedding--found them for $10 at Nordstrom Rack. Good chunky heel. Ankle strap. But the best is the embroidered flowers along the top strap. I wore these with a black dress with big pink flowers on it.

Life Stride

These are remarkably similar to the Italian shoes I posted about 12 hours ago. They're not nearly as cute, but they have their benefits. They've very comfortable with a medium heel. And the straps are elastic on top which makes them a little more comfortable as well. They're nice. I actually got them to do salsa dancing in. They worked well for that. I wore them with long skirts and t-shirts.

These were such a deal. On sale at Ross $5. I probably would have bought any half-way decent shoes for $5 but these are really cute. Seriously big heel with some platform up front to keep it from being too painful. Nice round toe. And some cut-outs on the side to show some skin. I'd wear them with a knee-length skirt and a boatnecked top.

The hard part has started; I can feel it. Getting a little achy, eyes a little blurry. I'm pushing on, though.

My dad's telling me about all the strange candidates who've put their names in for the special recall election for the California Governor. Here's one, a 26-yr old Berkeley alumni whose motto is: "Beauty, brains, leadership". Another is an 18 year old who lost six elections for student congress in high school--his quote: "I wasn't real good at campaigning." Another is a retired Oakland police officer who is treasurer of a motorcycle club. His motto: "No crybabies." Issue: "Legalization of the domestic ferret." Pretty funny. And very California. Check out the story.

Predictions

I got these boots at Payless for $10. I don't know why I like them so much, but I liked them so much I bought them in the only size available which was just a little tight. Sometimes my style side overpowers my smarter substance side. I've worn them a couple of times, but they're not good for any long walking. Great red, I like the ankle height, and the very square toe. I wear these with jeans mostly.

I just had my first "Oh my god, I still have 7 hours left" moment. I've been pretty good up till now. I'm actually not doing too badly tiredness-wise at the moment. But I did have to stretch out on the couch for a little bit. All this sitting can wear you out.

I'm watching, and I know it will lower everyone's opinions of me by admitting this, Miss Congeniality. I love Sandra Bullock (and I know you either love her or hate her) and I find this movie particularly entertaining for some reason. I think While You Were Sleeping is actually a better movie, but this one is easy fluff.

NOWW

Interestingly, if I get dressed up, these are one of the two pairs of shoes I'm most likely to put on. Despite the high heels, they're very comfortable. And I like that they're both sexy and feminine--high heels and criss-cross straps--while being kind of tough and edgy. I've worn these with any number of dresses and skirts. They're great with a skirt that spins when you dance and a sparkly sweater.

I'm finally getting some dinner. Vicolo pizza, my traditional Blogathon food. The corn pizza is in season and it's my favorite. Any excuse. It's a good thing I don't live above anyone as I've been clomping around in heels in my kitchen all day.

I'm back to Sex and the City again. I wanted to watch the Charlotte the shoe adorer meets the shoe fetishist episode. For some reason, it strikes a chord.

Well, I want to eat. Our chat room's down and Kelly's off IM so I'm alone except when my Dad comes on IM when he wanders away from the movie they're watching. If you have anything to say, please post comments or send me feedback! Thanks. Posting now. Come back for the 10:30 shoe.

Esprit

I adore these. I got them on sale at the Esprit outlet before they closed down. I don't remember how much I paid, but it was under $20. Even though you barely catch a glimpse of the hot pink inside, that's one of the main draws for me. I also love the cut-out top. My very favorite part is the thick column heel. I've worn these with a black dress with big pink flowers. (Check out my red toes peeking out of the cut-outs!)
