I saw the first Shrek and liked it. I'm not a fan of the bodily fluid humor so there were aspects that I didn't care for but overall it was a cute film. So of course I went to see the sequel. God knows I love Mike Myers enought to see almost anything he's involved with.
The plot of this sequel is Shrek and Fiona return from their Honeymoon and are invited to some see her parents so they can meet her "Prince Charming" and have a big party in their kingdom. They don't know that Charming turned out to be an ogre and that Fiona has permanently turned into an ogre herself. Fiona convinces Shrek to make the trip and Donkey tags along. Of course Fiona's parents aren't thrilled when they find out the news nor is Fiona's fairy godmother who planned for Fiona to marry her son. Shrek spends the rest of the film wondering if he should change so he can maybe give Fiona the Prince Charming she always dreamed of and with everyone else trying to find a way to separate the ogre lovers.
It's another cute film. It's got its bodily function moments as the first one did. And the story isn't as natural as the first one--it's always harder to tell the story of what happens after two people fall in love than it is to tell the story of them falling. But it's entertaining. And Antonio Banderas's Puss in Boots character, an assassin sent to kill Shrek, is wonderful.Posted by Alyssa at May 22, 2004 08:27 PM
