I was less impressed by Kill Bill, Volume 1 than I'd hoped to be. It was beautiful, the dialogue was wonderfully ridiculous, and the fighting was impressive. But that's all there was to it. I missed having plot and development of characters, two things I really require in a film. Which is one reason Quentin should have released these two volumes as a single film, as originally planned. But what's done is done.
Kill Bill is about a woman, The Bride (Uma Thurman) who was killed on her wedding day by Bill and his team of hitpersons. Only she didn't quite die. She awakes from a coma and decides to take revenge on everyone involved in her shooting.
Vol. 2 is much better than the first. We get backstory, we get characters, we get plot, we get everything missing from the first. And we still get beauty, good dialogue, and fighting. Everything rolled into one. Can't wait for the complete boxed set director's cut.Posted by Alyssa at April 17, 2004 09:46 AM
