Big Fish

Full disclosure: I love Tim Burton. I love everything he does. He can do no wrong. That said, this is a lovely film. It's about a boy who was told so many fish stories by his father that he doesn't feel he knows anything real about his father. When his father is dying, the son returns to try to understand who the story-teller really is, to separate truth from fiction. Ewan McGregor plays the father as a young man, Albert Finney plays him as a dying man. They're both wonderful. There are some special effects, this is Tim Burton after all, but it's not about that. It's really a nice film about love between father and son. Sounds corny, but I liked it. Tim rules.

I love Tim too, but his only flaw with me was that he broke Lisa Marie's heart when he left her for Helena while they were filming Planet of the Apes. I'm not a big Helena fan and I thought that Lisa Marie was fabulous. I wanted them to be together forever.
