I
had a little Jane Austen movie marathon this weekend in my apartment.
Nearly every one of her books has been made into a movie and I have
every one of those movies. One after one I watched them, "Emma",
"Sense and Sensability", "Mansfield Park"...but
the best of all is "Persuasion". It's beautifully acted, the
production qualities aren't as good as the others, but the story's great.
For me, though, the whole movie is about That Scene, the one everyone
who's seen the movie knows. The scene where she reads his letter. It
makes me cry every time. It makes me cry in anticipation, the moment
she sees the letter. Sigh. If you don't know what I'm talking about,
rent it.
