"The Cat's Meow"
is a very nice little movie. Based on a murder that took place in the
1920's on William Randolph Hearst's yacht. WR throws a party for a filmmaker,
Thomas Ince, for his birthday. At the party are various characters from
the 20's, a columnist, a novelist, and Charlie Chaplin amongst others
as well as Marion Davies, WR's mistress, who WR suspects of being unfaithful
to him. The story's great and interesting, based on rumors, as there
are few facts actually known about the murder. The music and costumes
are just gorgeous and slip you easily into the 20's. But best of all
is the acting, particularly Kirsten Dunst as Marion and Eddie Izzard
as Charlie. Go see it, you won't regret it.
