Pursuit of Love & Love in a Cold Climate" by Nancy Mitford.
I actually finished reading this a couple of weeks ago but it is by
far the best thing I've read in awhile. This is two interconnected
novels packaged together. The narrator is the cousin to an eccentric
family between the two world wars. The characters are great, despite
the author not dwelling on developing them prior to the novel's start.
Mitford has a fantastic way with dialogue and is consistently sharp
and witty. I'm currently reading the sequel--"Don't Tell Alfred"
which follows the narrator to Paris with her husband in the 60's.
